    Default deepwater fishing

I am wondering if I would be better of using spiderwire with a 4 lb leader when fishing in 30 feet of water and deeper. I have been using 4 lb mono and thought maybe I would have better feel of bites with less stretch. The lake I am fishing is very clear, and last weekend I was catching a few fish that would just be on and would have never felt a thing. Any opinions on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

You will feel the bite better when fishing with Braid in Deep water. No Mono leader is needed. I like the Stren Sonic Braid in Hi Vis 8# 1# Diam.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

I use a hi vis braid and a 5' 12lb fluoro leader, mainly cuz that's the only flouro I have. The fluoro is easier to retie. Fish don't care, been catchin biguns lately. The 12lb helps me get more of my jigs back.

    Default Braids

Well, I'll toss out my opinion here and say that I've used Fireline Crystal in 4# test quite successfully, over the years. This line is extremely limp and easy to handle on spinning gear. Super strong for it's rating too. I do use a 6' fluoro leader at the business end. Mainly due to the abrasion resistance of fluoro over any kind of braid.

This set up works well for me jig fishing clear water, as well as tossing micro spoons for panfish of all kinds. If you try this kind of set up, I think you will be very pleased.

I fish deep water a vast majority of the time. There is always some big fish that hang out there at just about any time of the year. Guess I'm stubborn but I stay with the 6 pound Pline line for the most of the time just cause I like it and am use to what I feel with it. Now to me, the time to make a change is coming up however as it gets colder. I feel the colder the water, the better the fish see your line and are more reluctant to hit your bait, so when the water temps do go into the 40s, I make the change to smaller diameter, but its not due to feel as much as fish site related. Can't beat the invisiblility of the new flourocarbons as they really can get pretty invisible. Have fished braid too, and it's good, or better as some mentioned with a leader on it. Experiment and do what works for you. Clear water as you say, and deep water too, are definately a combination where you need strength and invisiblity. good luck.

I fish a similar if not the same lake. Line won't make a difference, them swim-ons just defy gravity. We increased our weight and that made the biggest difference. It's hard to believe they are that deep but when you can see your jig at 12'-14' that kinda clears it up, so to say. We were popping whites in 20' and when you hooked them you could see their flash. I hate catching them that deep cause they can't go back. But honestly, I don't think line will matter, just keep it heavy enough to get some jigs back.
