I start with the same setup I use all the rest of the time. 1/16-3/16 oz jig depending on depth and wind and a green chartreuse tube on #6 sufix clear line.
What is your go to color and jig head in winter. I like to keep it natural as possible and light 4lb line 1/32 or 1/64. Slowwwwwwwww Minnows always great winter but I love that jig bit anytime.

1/16th ounce chartruse jig red eyes pink and chartruse 2 inch tube fished on 6lb stren gold line .
My reason for the pink color is if you have ever noticed the fish you catch out of cold water have a pink tint to them . I just figured then the bait fish will be the same way .
See ya Kevin ><)))*>
Excellent
yesterday it was any color of jig body, and 1/16 oz jig mostly
21 ft of water drop to bottom and slow up and bam ,, it was slow but they was nice ones.
Man that's what I'm talking about...nice slabs, when you use 1/32 & 1/64 fishing deep water do you add a split shot a foot above jig or leave it alone just let it fall. I as split shot sometime
