Illegal Immigrants

I just almost tee'd off on someone in another forum for pointing at illegal immigrants and just need to vent.

If I lived where most of our South & Central American immigrants come from, I'd get the heck outta dodge too!!! I can't blame a single one of them, except for those who are slaughtering everyone in their path to get at good ol' White-America's drug money! Maybe if OUR government would deploy troops to OUR border to help stop the flow of OUR money into the hands of ruthless murderers, OUR immediate neighbors wouldn't have to live in fear and wouldn't chose to run for their lives.

Most of our 'Latin' immigrants are doing jobs we gringos won't do, and certainly for less pay than we'll work for. You don't have to look past the food rotting in the fields in Alabama this year (after their heightened immigration laws) to realize that the illegal immigrants are mostly good, hard working, poor folks with few other options. Anti-immigrants say "They don't pay taxes"...HA! If you think they could/did file they would be PAYING IN!? LOL They're living below the poverty line and would get money back! We do miss out on their Social Security and FICA contributions, but at least they're paying sales taxes and stalling economic decline in the usually poor neighborhoods where they can afford to live. Most of these people come from abhorrent conditions where we wouldn't dare live, so why do we fault them for moving UP into our slums? Maybe if we made it easier to become a LEGAL immigrant and assimilated them into our society, they could readily contribute to our socialist programs!

A couple of things you forgot to mention.

1. These people are not illegal immigrants they are illegal aliens. They are not supposed to be here. If you were caught in Mexico without any paperwork what do you think would happen? Bottom line is that they are illegal. What other laws do you want to overlook for a specific segment of society? How about Sharia law for the Muslims?

2. They do not want to assimilate, they want to bring their country here. If you think I am mistaken, why then is EVERYTHING from telephone menus to signs at the home depot also done in Espanol? All other immigrants to this county, in previous generations, have assimilated to become Americans, and the first step to doing this is speaking a common language. We dont print signs in German/Italian/Russian, because true immigrants wanted to immigrate to this county because it is the best country on planet earth. They did not move over here and transform America into the place they are moving from.

3. These illegal aliens seemingly have more rights in this county than Americans do. Illegals can go to any Emergency room in the country and get treated without paying one red cent. You try to do that, and see what happens.

I agree with your main point though. If I lived in a godless Communist county like China or a third world country like most of Latin america I would be looking for a way out as well.

Immigrants, aliens, sounds like semantics to me.

I think the 'us vs. them' system has forced 'them' to keep their language and build their communities. Perhaps you don't see it much in Mississippi or Oklahoma, but here are signs in other languages in other parts of the United States. Ever heard of Little China or Little Italy areas in our major cities? We just don't see much immigration in the South other than the hispanics, or you might have a different viewpoint on that. Naturally, due to geography, we're going to see more immigration from our continental neighbors...

If you were living under a false identity you could probably get health care without paying as well. I'm not saying it's right, obviously it's wrong to steal health care. But that's not something you're going to go without, and if you can't afford it you don't pay for it. I can guarantee there are a good number of American born citizens who have skipped out on, or filed bankruptcy on, their healthcare bills.

BTW, excluding full-blood Native Americans, we're all x-generation immigrants here!

Who applauded breaking the law? I didn't applaud breaking the law, I said I don't blame them. Do you have any idea how much money and red tape it takes to become a naturalized citizen? I think we should make it easier to become a legal citizen, not harder. Make it easier to file and pay taxes, not harder. Why does our government have to convolute and make everything so dawgawn difficult?
