Anybody give me a heads up on this? I thought the Crappie did the channels & Canals in Spring?
Would there be Crappies in the canals that we fish in the Spring? I just read where they really caught a bunch in the channels by Sterling.
Could that be right? Thanks..

Somebody out there must know if the Crappies go into the cuts a canals before it freezes up? I'd like an answer before I waste my time on a trip to go. Someone on here has fished like this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

If the dinner plate is there the fish will be as well. As long as the temps are suitable and there is a food source, why not?
Larry,
I would say it depends on what lake your fishing, this time of year with water temps at 40 degrees most crappie tend to go out in deeper water.
I do find crappie on one lake I ice fish on move in 12 to 15 foot of water right at first ice for a short time then move out deeper, you just might be surprised if you go.
For a answer to your question, i would for the most part say NO !
Good luck
I'm pretty new to this Crappie fishing. I read where a guy caught some in the canals. I really kind of doubt it due to out temperatures. This ain't Mississippi, it's in the 30's here and going to 16 tonight. So before I get all my winter clothes on, my boat out, and freeze my butt off, I just wondered if what the guy said could be possible? Are we on the same page? Thanks...
