besides opening it up for catch & release in 2012, they are also talking of making it
into a "Fish Management Area", if this happens could turn into anothr Tenoroc....

As adjust says we all need to go...............place also has a phone number
    813 987-6284 for needed assistance

Also need to find out if they are going to allow commercial fishermen in now that
they have cleaned lake of rough rish (exotics) and nile perch. In old days sure
seemed like a lot poaching going on after hours.

Fees are going to be going up as this is county park, not controlled by State.,
could just put out of reach for retired folks.?

They had to drain it to fix the dam. when it was completed they let it fill up naturally and re stocked it. Find out at meeting what there plans are.

netting rough fish at night and/or netting the nile perch, however, if game fish got
caught in net - it wasn't thrown back but went to boxs same as net fish. being
night time - game wardens were not their to check them - things pretty much wide
    open

They are going to turn Medard into FWC - fish management compound.
They will allow catch & release only starting December 2011. In next two years
as "fry" that were stocked grow, adjustments will be made along with slot limits
to maintain the fishery. To date only bluegill, shellcrackers, bass and catfish have
been put in. (no crappie), also, due to low ozygen level in late August, the lake had
a massive fish kill and several big bass, Crappie were lost, with fingerlings stocked
    surviving.

They will also institute a yearly park pass of $100.00, a yearly launch pass of
$100.00 and a yearly night fishing pass (when catch & relase ban is taken off) of
$30.00. ..... Bottom line to fish this impoundment on any kind of regular basis will
$230.00 up front. Or you can enter the park for $2.00, add $5.00 to launch boat
equalling $7.00 per individual day. Camping in park is also available (and is quite nice) with additional camping fees attached. The park fee of $100.00 is good at
any county park in Hillsborogh county (which are mostly Saltwater parks)

Its not going to be any better than any other lake. Look at Tenoroc, that place is heavily managed and if you fish it you will see that there are much better lakes out there.
