    Default Jerky


    My first batch of venison jerky just came out of the smoker. Hot darn is it good, even warm.

    The hunting gods handed me a buck the opening day last Saturday and I've been trying to fill the doe tag, but these winds we've been seeing evryday are really starting to hold the deer down. Weds we were supposed to have some rain/snow but that forcast got bumped Tuesday afternoon and what was supposed to be wet was high, dry, and, of course, windy.

    Weds evening after I finished with the general processing Ma and I had a steak apiece and they were tender and tasty. Not a cents worth of game taste to this guy. The weather is forcast to be warm and windy again tomorrow but I think we'll see more hunters afield again being the last weekend in this zone and hopefully they'll be moving the deer around more. In the meantime, I'm liking this jerky.
