The 2011 JMMA Results

Persons of the Year: Cane Pole and Papasage have been selected to receive the inaugural JMMA (John Moes Memorial Award) for 2011. Yes, it was a tie.

If you’ve followed the process, you’ll know that the Crappie.com Person of the Year Award was renamed to the John Moes Memorial Award (JMMA) in honor of my father, who passed away earlier this year. I want to thank everyone for their support and recommendation to make this name change.

Deciding who the winner should be was was a very hard decision to make, we had so many deserving nominations. The committee members did a wonderful job sorting through the candidates and making the best recommendation possible. I would like to thank each of the Committee Members (Barnacle Bill, Crappiepappy, "G", Pbug2009, Shipahoy41, Skiptomylou, Snake River, Stumphunter) for the time and effort they put in. It really was not an easy task.

Shipahoy was especially helpful in initiating this effort and keeping everybody on track. Thanks Ship, and thank everyone for all the time put into this noble cause. Ship lit the fuse that started all this, and Barnacle Bill (Chairman of the committee) compiled the recommendation to the Moes family for the final decision.

The final decision was made by my family based on the recommendations of the committee. This was not easy, but calling it a tie, and choosing both Cane Pole and Papasage made us feel real good about the choice we made.

Congratulations Tom and Sage, we are extremely happy to announce you both as the inaugural recipients of the JMMA. Although Tom and Sage certainly exemplify all the awards values, one of them really stood out. These two men have a “willingness to help others” that is unsurpassed. Thank you both for your support and participation on Crappie.com. We are honored to have you as members.

Additionally, they have won some good stuff, I will take pictures of what they won and make a separate post.
