Default Boat pulling to one side....

Took my boat out for the first time last week and had that problem. Never had it before. It pulls to the right "hard" like a car having alignment problem. I have to hold the steering wheel tight in order for it to go straight.

If the trim tab on the skeg is set properly, this is NORMAL. The boat should go MORE straight when on plane and trimmed up.

This is a safety setup that will put the boat into a circle if you fall out.

The trim tab also helps offset the torque of the engine.

I disagree. Rotation of the propeller is what causes the boat to circle and pull to one side, and many boater deaths are caused by circling boats. The trim tab is supposed to offset this tendancy. Trimming the outboard up usually reduces the effect. Fast boats don't really need a trim tab because it is out of the water at fast speeds.

Adjust your trim tab in the direction of the pull a little bit at a time until it does not pull any more. It shouldn't pull at any speed.

I understand the same way as CATFAN! If I turn lose of my wheel I would spin like a top. Same as with a tiller but much worse.

man who told you that was normal...i set boats up everyday and i promise you it aint normal...if you fell out would you want the boat to come back and run over you?..the TORQUE TAB(trim tabs are add on's to the transom) can be set to reduce prop torque...but i would find out why it is all the sudden doing it now...bent blade, skeg,or even a prop shaft...motor to transom mount bolts loose..and worn motor mounts will cause it..check it out and you'll find out why..
