If you are putting it out after nightfall it is 100% legal!!If during the day, you can check with the Iowa fish and game department just to be sure. My guess is it's ok. Good luck!
I just recently found this website and love it! Awesome information here.
Never really thought about building structure to put in the lakes. Especially out of pvc and stuff. GOOD IDEAS!!!
Now for the nitty gritty. Is this legal? I live in Iowa and there are a couple lakes around here that don't have much structure in them and I think this would def. enhance my fishing!

As an Iowan, and having known people who have got ticketed. I will say it is illegal on public waters. However, if you coordinate w/ the idnr and/or USACE it can be legal. Another however, they are a pain the to deal w/. I'd say do it at night. Just be smart as to what you're putting in and where it goes. You don't want to be making any hazards on the our lakes.
Shoot me a PM, where ya at? Where ya sinking? If close I'd help you out.
I mainly fish red rock and rathbun
hehascraps is right, it's a very complicated issue in this state, and the DNR and COE, for the most part, keeps that way.
I'm actually north of waterloo about 20 miles. Theres a couple lakes up here I would love to put some in. Looks like it will have to be a covert mission though!
One of these days I would love to get down to Red Rock and Rathbun. Never been to either one but have always heard theres good fishing there.
