    First post:

Thanks and greetings from Minnesota. Crappies are my primary target, but in the process I take a number of sunnies, perch and yearling bass, along with a significant number of bonus game fish.

I fish almost exclusively ultralight with 5' poles on 2 and 4 pound lines with very small jigs tipped with plastic bodies of various kinds and colors that almost never exceed 2".

For me this is a recreation; I release everything. I normally fish with one or two other guys on short outings in the late afternoon and evening. Pretty much the same people open water or ice. I carry my kit in my car and will often spend a while fishing in the middle of running some errand, depending on what I feel like. I live alone so I can adjust my schedule to suit whatever whim grabs me at the moment. With the plastics I don't need to take a run to the bait shop either.

Don't get me wrong though I dearly love catching. If you are not catching, are you really doing anything more than sightseeing?
