    Default Smithville 10/17

Fished today from 7:15 - 10:30. picked up an old timer that has fished this lake for quite a while and it paid off. Hit areas that I've never fished and did well. We both had limits of Crappie by 9:00 with some real slabs. Fish are starting to move shallow! Hands ClappingBlue & White Entyzer Jigs today. Some were in 12 fow and some were in 3 fow. Picked up quite a few 12", a few that went 13", and a 14"er. Threw back all over 12" & bigger to let spawn. The water temp was 64.5 a few more colder nights & it will be about perfect.

It was a very good day. Had a blast and caught a few fish to boot. My brain was like a sponge, taking old school lessons from a guy that has forgotten more than I probably know!

DANG! Remember last summer when all those Smithville black crappie measured 8-8½"? Look what a year can do when there's a lake full of shad to feast upon! Nice toad. Thanks for the report and the pic. I'm ready to try hitting it again!
