    Default Rod Transportation

I am a spider rigger and I like to pull crankbaits however I fish some odd places and my boat is dual purpose(hunting and fishing). I have been trying to figure out something to store my rods in to keep them from getting so tangled up. I have entertain building an 8 rod holder from pvc, where each rod would simply slide in/out as needed. I am afraid that it would be too large and cumbersome. What do yall think about the rod socks and then put a wrap on them? Do yall have any other suggestion?

That looks great slick. I just cannot mount anything permanent in my current boat. I hope to upgrade and have a fishing boat and a hunting boat one of these days.

Mine are not permanent, they mount on hi-tek rod holder bases. Look at bottom of these page.

I'm liking this a little more as I use hitek rod holders already. I do go fishing with other folks in their boat though.

I just strap mine down under the rubber bungies that came with my Tracker on the front & back deck.
They do fine there even when on the road.

You could use the pvc pipe, eithe one large diameter or a couple smaller diameter ones, would depend on the # of rods you use for each method. I only use two rods when pulling CB's as I'm a bit on the lazy side about it.

if you don't mind taking the reels off the rods, then the pvc pipe would work, and could use the "golf club tubes" with foam to hold things in place inside the pvc pipe. with the reels on, you could probably get 3-4 per 8" pipe, I'm guessing on this, but you could go find some home construction sites, and look around for a piece of scrap 8" pvc, or go buy a short piece to see how it would work out.

Could make both ends open up with screw on caps, and then load some from both ends, so each end has some reels and utilize the space a bit better. GL
