I use the bnm mini reels on all mine and love them!
I have two 12ft. ozark jig poles, and looking to replace the Garcia 102 spinning reels with the small lighter crappie reels. Have looked at Shakespeare crappie hunter,Bnm,American Spirit pc50, etc. My question is, what is a good reel for the money? It doesn't have to be the cheapest, or the most expensive. Looking to lighten up a little, and save space. Also need to be tough.

Shimano 1000. They are good and inexpensive. 11.00 bucks a piece. Monks crappie sells em
Yea the bps microlite works good.
I like the fly reel type and Grizzly jig has a great one for 10.95 adjustable drag
Any small, lightweight spinning reel will work just fine. Or even a small low profile baitcast reel works well. The lighter the better for all day jig fishing, balance is key.
After trying a couple of cheap plastic crappie type reels, I never liked their drags, adjusting knobs came off and the reels just weren't very smoothe. Recently found a Cahill graphite fly reel model Crystal River at Gander Mtn. for $11. Loaded it up with hi vis line and love it so far. Light weight, very smoothe reel operation and smoothe adjustable drag.
