It's a rhetorical question I think. Went out Sunday and caught 20, lots of 9 inchers. Biggest fish by far was a shellcracker! Biggest damn shellcracker I've ever seen or caught. She weighed about 1.2 lbs and hit the jig I was dipping for the specks. I thought it was a catfish and she almost broke my line.

having never fished the st johns, and starting to get the itch to do so, after seeing all the reports, i am wondering if there is a current in the river.

Crappiegirl , there's not much current in the St.Johns unless it is in flood stage. You should check out Monroe.
Speckanator has found the mother load. This is just about the time I catch them in Monroe each year!

Let me be even more clear...there is no better system of lakes in Florida that can compete with St. Johns for fishing.

Yes Crappiegirl there is current in the St. Johns mostly north but some times it will reverse and flow south. The current speed, direction and water temps are very important to where the fish will be holding from day to day. Some days close to shore some days deep. Just give me another 50 years and I'll have it figured out. Wish I could fish her every day........ Someday I will.
