Default Tying braid to a mono backing line

I got a good price on some P-line braid and want to use it on my garage-sale-special baitcaster. It currently has 15-20 lb mono on it, that I figure I'll keep some of it as backing line (that way if I get a birdsnest I'll still have some braid left to re-spool).

Is a double uni-knot good for tying the braid to the mono backer? I've used it many times for mono-to-mono but this is my first experience with braid.

    Other suggestions?

That's what I use and I've had good luck with it. You shouldn't get to the backing knot anyway.

I use the uni-to-uni. There was another recent thread about this. The uni-to-uni was popular but there were several other suggestions as well.

You never know when you're going to hook that monster 20" crappie :D

Many thanks for the confirmations! Uni-to-uni it is.

BTW, I thought braid was supposed to be real limp. The spool of braid arrived last night -- it's stiff enough to stand up 10". It's Spiderwire Stealth Braid, not P-Line as originally mentioned.

    Cool Nuts for Knots

    Heres some good info:
Fishing Knots | How to Tie Fishing Knots | Animated Fishing Knots

Ropers Knot Pages, Real Knots: Knotting, bends and hitches.

I also fill my reels half way with mono. No use filling the reel with expensive braid.
I change the braid only when the color starts to go or every couple of years.
    I use bright orange Suffix.
    Thumbs Up

Some braids are more stiff than others and I am not so familiar with yours, but I have some Invisi-Braid by Spiderwire that I used some last spring and it was pretty food, but have used Power Pro for several years and like it a lot too.

My Suffix starts out stiff, but after a couple of trips it relaxes.
The smoothest I have used, and still use for bassin, is the Stren Sonic.
