    Default Albuquerque NM!

I'll be in Albuquerque October 23-28 for training. Days will be busy, but looking for things to do after 5pm?
Staying at Hyatt downtown, any resturants/bars in that area worth visiting?
I may or maynot rent a car, if I do, any recommendations for activities during the weeknight?

Any fish in that thar river running through town? If so, whatcha got?

LAst time in Chicago I took a pole and fished the Chicago River.

I worked in ABQ for over 30 years. Moved in 2001, my daughter moved back last spring and she asked me what areas to avoid. My son and I both told her DOWNTOWN after sundown. The RIO GRANDE is not a place to fish at night. TINGLEY BEACH maybe during the day. NITELIFE --- downtown has some hot spots, they cleaned it up somewhat. OLD TOWN has places to eat along with an I MAX, museum and Aquarium. ABQ ain't a bad town just watch your self. Good luck!

Couple good casino's just on the outskirts...We prefer Sandia, but Isleta is nice too....Horses should be running at the track ?

If you really want to fish what we used to call the "clear ditch" irrigation channel just off the Rio has stocker Rainbows,,can be fun....PM me if you want directions to the put in.. You'd be better off taking your golf clubs than rods.....

Thanks for the input. Not much for golfing, gave it up because it was too frustrating. Guessing Ill skip the car and drink heavily in the hotel and local establishments.

The casino's will pick you up at the hotel and take ya back ?

For a real taste of N Mex cuisine you need to try either,,,,El Pinto, upscale or Sadies,,,hole in the wall but good food..

Last I knew the Hyatt was not down town. One near the airport and one mid town. If you are in the airport Hyatt you are just 5 miles or so from the Isletta casino like radtexan mentioned. They may have a shuttle. Do a web search for Albuquerque tourism. Trust me you don't want to fish at nite any where along the ditches. I am surprised that your group did not get your venue set up at the Isletta Hotel & Casino, quite the place. They also have a couple of lakes along the river that you could walk to from the casino. Many years ago it was the only place we could buy beer on Sunday. Every thing was great for a while then they started opening all six bottles or cans before you left the bait shop. So rather than getting ripped on the way home you were ripped before you went home, luckely I lived only 4 miles from there. If you are at the mid town hotel you can walk to the malls and also have a lot more choices for nite life. The end of October will have cold crisp temps.

    Hyatt
330 Tijeras NW is the one I'll be at.

    Sounding like that is "midtown".

I prefer bar food at hole in the walls. Typically its the best food in town.

Forgot about that one, but I have been there. There was a couple of spots (bars) near Central and 3rd. If you like the Hard Rock Cafe that is what the Isletta Casino is now. I am sure they have a shuttle. There is stuff within a 8 or 10 block walk. Most of the hole in the wall eateries are about ready to close for the day in that neighborhood. It is all gov't offices downtown and auto parts and related services north of downtown. If you can go east up Central to the Univ. of NM. across the street is the Frontier Restaurant. Not to bad food wise with a WHOLE BUNCH of local color. Some bars in that area also. good luck
