Go to the Electronics forum. I think you will find a lot of information on this topic.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

Talk to Brian @ BBG Marine. If you have questions he sells both and can give you input on both brands. He's a sponser on here.

Depth finder brands is an opinionated topic.... Just like ford vs chevy....

    Both make good units....

Decide what features you want in a unit..

Ask questions about hardware needed for each unit to get the features you want...There are a few differences in hardware needed.....

Will you be connecting other units or accessories later on...??

Will you be using SI more...? DI more....?

I have the 798ci si with gold navionics card from 2009 (roughly $1200 alltogether) before they called it HD but I think its the same. They have a 2d upgrade I need to get off the site though. I like mine a lot, shows structure just like in the demos.
