Solid black is the first color I try and is consistently one of the best. The waters I fish are usually quite stained if not down right muddy.
Heh, heh, I've started another aspect of investing for my retirement - buying a stock of crappie crankbaits! Rofl
I got some great advice on colors in general in a different forum area here; and its led to my wondering what your experiences have been with day in and day out which lure color have you caught more crappies on: chrome, pearl white, or silver when casting or trolling a crankbait?

Depends on your area sometimes, the water clarity, and time of year. Ask the locals at your lake to get a better idea of what is the best colors. That is where I would start.
Chrome with a black or blue back, white pearl with a red or purple back. Silver has never done much for me while pulling cranks.
These are not my top colors to pull but out of the three you asked about these color combos are the ones that has work.

for crankbaits, id say white and silver about tie for me. I tend to use natural colors most often in cranks, mostly shad patterns which are normally a dull silver or off white or combonation of the two.
