I know the Garmin 68c is fairly simple, and has a 12v wire for power. It takes about a minute to power up and get its location down to 10',+/-.
I need a simple G P S for our Vol Fire Dept. All we need is Coordinates to land a chopper in remote locations. Does the Garman E-tec have this and a cirgerette plug for power?
Thanks

GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
I have a e-tec it is fine for about 99bucks. Runs on double a batterys
Any handheld GPS should be fine. Power consumption is relatively low, so one set of batteries should last for a full day or longer.
Why don't you post this in the KY forum & see if someone will donate (should be deductible) an old unit? These things last much longer than the time it takes the manufacturers to design a better unit. Most fishermen have a collection of yesterday's technology sitting there collecting dust.
I have lorance and garman but they are a lot higher priced, does the E-tec give coordance [misselled] and can you get a 12 v powercord?
Thanks

Rowdy, this is a good site for info. You can look them up by use(handheld etc) then if you click on compare on a few it with list the features side by side. Prices are high though, buy somewhere else.
