After trying every shape and size reel for spider rigging, I finally settled on Shakespear Axiom baitcasters. I get them at Wally World for about $26.00. The two things I looked for was a level wind and adjustable drag. Those reels have both and are low profile and pretty light weight.

I went ahead and ordered some spinning reels. I will give one reel to the older gentleman I fished with last weekend from church......He was holding one reel on with duck tape......But he caught more fish than me

I have to agree. I've tried most of them and cheap WM level wind work best.

The reels you have will work fine. The key is to have everything the same. I use middle of the road spinning reels.

thanks guys for the info. I have mostly mitchell spinning reels, and im adding 2 more rods to the arsenal, so I thought I would try these. I thought they were too "light" for spider riggin so thats why asked. went ahead and bought 2 spinning reels to upgrade rods with.......might use one for a jig pole, give one as gift.

My Brenda uses this reel. Only problem we had is if you put too much line on the spool, it will get in the crack where the spool meets the frame and you will wind line inside the frame and haveta take it apart to fix it. I got this fix/info from osofishy at Grizzly Jigs.
