Default Good morning rigging on Truman

Put the racks back on the boat and hit the water this morning to see if it was happeniong yet or not. The rigging bite is on once again for sure. No big fish again today but the numbers of eaters was there for sure. Must have caught 85-100 fish from 8-12". Most came on double minnow rigs but did pick up some on double jig rigs. Fished 6-8 ft down in 9-12 ft of water. Lost two nice cats today one was close to 25 lbs and another about 3-4 lbs. All i got from them was a slimed up line. Man they are nasty. Fishing was so good I had to go from 6 rods to 3 to keep up. Even went to one minnow per pole for a while at the end to help out. Fun morning and got of the water by 11 and before it got hot.

So, being new to Truman I have questions. Obviously you aren't in the middle of that timber so I assume you are out in the channel or in the wide open areas... correct? I love spider fishing (rigging to you) and used to do it about 98% of the time on the oxbows I fished in the Arkansas delta.

Today I was in the creek channel but ran rods up against the trees on the edges of the channel. If the wind is right to back you up you can spilt trees with two rods and fish each side of a tree at once. Very productive at times. The best bite today was between the trees right on the drop off of the creek channel. Fun way to fish and boat control is key when fishing in and around the trees.

I got two rod holders on my kayak... I could do that. Two rod holders, double rig a jig and minnow setup, paddle into the wind. I've hooked a catfish or two every time I've fished the Grand arm. Caught a nice 3.5# bass last time as well.
