If the minnows do not attract fish in 30 minutes....I move and set up in another spot. Also, I try not to night fish on nights with a bright moon.
OK, help me out here. I took my Son out Fri. night for Crappie. He also wanted to see how my Reel-lite 612 worked. We got set up at 9:30pm and at 10pm had tons of minnows around the light, my Son had never seen anything like it before. By 11pm we had 1 bite. I know the moon was bright. Where were the Crappie?? Did I quit too soon? Too bright? Thanks...

how deep was the water, when i nite fish u have to keep trying everything till u find them ,different depths (changing constantly),fish near lights and outside lights,i just keep trying different things if i have tons of minnows
How deep were you fishing?? Sometimes the crappie will be right under the bait ball, sometimes they will be mid depth, or right on the bottom. Sometimes the outer edge of the light in the dark water is where the fish are holding. And sometimes the night bite just don't happen, don't give up on it. Once you figure it out, and get a good night, you will be hooked on another method of crappie fishing.
We were in 19' of water on a drop that went to 24 ' I knew the moon wasn't going to be good. I tried just about everything but moving. Next time I will..

Thanks. We fish the Au Sable River a lot, and it's different than fishing a lake. There's some big one's in there if you can find them. There's big deep bends and stuff...
