Oh, now I know who Honey is, I just read Canepoles post about the Honey Do's. Heck, if she's catching fish so much better than Canepole, maybe she should be in the tourney, and canepole can finish his Honey Do's. Or maybe, if I read that right, canepole is right there on the water, maybe we all stop by and help him get his honey do's done so he can "come out and play".

Here's Cane Pole slinging a Thug into his boat!

Do you guys call Bass, Thugs? And is there a reason? I thought I seen posts calling Bass, Thugs, but I could be wrong.

Can't wait for Friday. Man I am still pondering coming down on Wed and staying at a motel for two days first and getting in some practice this time. LOL I will try to find Jerry and Richard and see how they fish. But they can both outrun me easily so I may have to tie a rope to their boats to keep up with them LOL. Actually there is a spot or two in Sulfur creek that I would like to try before there are 40 boats hoving over that creek channel on Satuday.

I was looking at the weather forcast for this area (Evansville, IN) and the long range forcast is for fairly cold weather. Highs only in the upper 40's. I am glad that I got that Thinsulate Ultra Jump Suit now. I went out yesterday and just fooled around and wore my jump suit and new thinsulate boots trying to break them in or should I say getting my feet and legs used to the new boots. They keep my feet very warm and that really makes fishing in the cold much more fun. I have some thinsulate gloves or mittens that work pretty good too. That and a thinsulate hood on the coverall jumpsuits helps keep the cold out.

If it's windy and I get waves coming over the front of the boat and get wet then I will be in trouble. I have one gore-text/thinsulate jacket that I got on today and wore outside. It's very warm but it's fit is really snug. I must have lost a bit of weight as I could finally get the zipper to shut and zip up. I thought I was gaining weight and inches around my waist. I still can't get into my gore-text non insulated rain suit pants. The tops still fit. I have two gore-text rain suits that have tops and pants included. They are a large size and I need an X-Large or XXLarge these days. If I can find an XX Large Rain Parka that I could fit over my coveralls then I would be set for fishing in the cold and rain at the same time. Or I could fish on cold dry days or on warm wet days. The Guidewear gear that sells at cabelas cost about 450 bucks and that was just too much to spend right now. I got the insulated coveralls at Dick's Sporting goods for only $100 bucks and the Wolverine Insulated boots cost about 99 bucks. So for 200 bucks I am ready to fish in the cold once more. I have alread put the new winter cloths to the test and they passed with flying colors. Of course the real test will be on on KY lake with 15 to 20 mph winds with an air temp in the upper 30's. Now if I can fish and stay warm in those conditions then all will be well. I also have some polypropylene socks that are very thin and they go on first followed by special rocky socks that help to wick moisture away from my feet. Keeping your feet and hands dry is the key to staying comfortable on cold blustery days. Also a good wool or thinsualte sock hat helps to retain heat. And some guys buy those chemical hand and feet warmer packs at Wal-mart. I may get some of those for my hands and keep them in the side pockets of my new coveralls.

I won't mind the cold weather as long as its not real windy. I would love to be able to get on on the main lake and fish the ledges and catch some big crappie this weekend. But if the winds are high I will be in Sulfur creek with all the other guys that don't want to brave the waves out on the main lake.

Looking forward to the weekend and seeing everyone down there.

I will try to be there at 4PM on Friday to meet up with you CanePole. We are now on slow time and it's 12:00 Noon CST at the time of this post

We call the catfish thugs on the nc board. It's an inside joke pertaining to the hired "thugs" that ruin our night setups regularly. We get more cats crappie fishing , I'm thinking of posting it on a cat site I frequent as a new technique....Just think crappie and the cats come running. You can imagine the chaos a 7 or 8 lb cat can have on a night setup with 15-20 rods lining the side of the boat. You talk about a birdnest...E.

Ed, Jerry Blake refers to Bass as green carp.
