Question about lure coloring....

I just started to tie my own crappie jigs, and wondered what you all thought about something. Do you think a touch of red (on a jig in this instance) gives the impression to a fish that your bait is injured?

I kinda think it would, but that's based entirely on my opinion, I'm sure someone somewhere has done a study. What say ye?

I use a bit of red as an accent when I tie, like a strip of red crystal flash or a small piece of red micro chenille. Tie some variations of the same combo and let the fish tell you.

I think that's been a question that's been around for a long time!!!! Some say yes some say no but sooner or later everyone does their own comparison. I've read alot of stuff over the years talking about it. This is gonna be something that will be debated for a long long time.

It makes sense and I have always heard that some red does indeed give off the impression of your bait being injured. I know several bait companies that make shad baits to appear injured, so it does stand to reason that there is something behind it.

I've personally never noticed any kind of difference because I always use blacks, greens and yellows when I'm fishing.
