Great job on the Rock Sam! Did you pull crankbaits?
I spend a couple of hrs each day trolling the rock.
Day 1, I had 1 white,4 largemouth,15 crappie,1 cat. Released all other fish and had 7 crappie keepers. Released anything close to 10"
Day 2, 1 cat 9 crappie. I released one that was close to 10".
Crappie its whats for dinner.Thumbs Up
Sunday was nice. Another boat was close to me wandering around for the first hour trying to find something to catch. He wound up @ the cut and found what seemed to be white bass on a feeding frenzy. Turned out it was smallmouth. He spent the next 2 hrs catching smallmough on topwater baits. No big ones just 13 to 14".
Having said that I think he would have rather gone home with what I had in the live well.

Wtg sam! Glad u got out and caught some fish!
nice going I think tablerock is a bit tough to troll, I have found some good to great spots on tablerock just not on the james river arm.
Atta Boy Sam.....good to hear from ya! By the way...sending you a bill for using my signatureRofl Hope Chris is doing wellThumbs Up
Crappie.......its whats for dinner!!
Sounds like a good day of trolling glad you got in to them. sent you a PM
Yes I trolled with cranks.
Color is unpredicitable. Some days they want a light color and others a dark color. The last trip all pink or a brown w/ yellow belly worked best. The brown/yellow seems to be the most consistant over the last month. Couldn't get anything on silver. WHY???? Silver has been good in the past. I start out with both light and dark, then after 3 or 4 fish sometimes you can see a pattern. Water clarity must play a big part.
It's so such a reaction bite I don't know why color is important.
Monty gave me 5 basic color combos for jiging @ truman. All other colors are for fun, not the crappie. I'm working on the same for trolling. I also am working a a chart for depth based on line length and weight applied to the line. To tell you the truth depth not so critical. So far anything between 12' as 18' works the same.
I have to say just sitting in the seat with motor point forward beats running the trolling motor trying to maintain boat position.Thumbs Up
