Default Fish Finder for Manta Ray 14

Hey, Just wondered if you guys could suggest a fish finder for my kayak? I need one that will allow me to watch my minnow rig drop to the schools of fish. Any suggestions? I have no preference between humminbird/ lowrance or garmin...I appreciate your two cents...

How much money do you want to spend? You can use most any sonar.

I just want one that I can see my drop shot or jigging spoon go down to the suspended fish...In the lake I fish I have to be able to locate schools of suspended fish and drop bait or a lure to them...If I can't see that line go down to the fish I am out of business...I'd like to be economical but I want to spend enough to get the job done...I think 500 is too much for a kayak fish finder...but 350 is probably good...Thanks...

Here's one I was looking at before finding a good used one. I've never used a Garmin but the pixel count sounds good enough to get the job done.:

That looks like a pixel count that will work...plus it is a good price...Thanks...I've never owned a Garmin but it could be worth trying...I have had a lowrance mark 5x and it really did not do a good job at all. It is about the same price...I think I will call Garmin in the morning...I'll let you knwo what I find out...

Wow, that is a good price. I've never tried Garmin either, but that may be worth looking at!

I have a Hummingbird PirahanaMax 160 (portable) that I use for my duckie, I think I got it for $120. With the sensitivity set on 9 I can see a marabou jig easily...with fish ID set to on it shows as a small fish! I think the thing is great and my catch has probably gone up 400% since I got it!

The portable is nice because everything fits in an easy to carry bag so I can move it between boats...with the duckie, I have made a mount for the screen and battery and suction cup the transducer to the boat. With the raft, I suction the transducer to a little mount that hangs over the side and use the unit in the bag as intended. I think the only difference between the 160 and the 170 ($99?) is that the 160 has a suction cup transducer and the carrybag...might not get a 12v battery with the 170 either??
