the black chrome model is their best quality. It also holds up better in the long run if you put a jig away wet and go to use it again. the black chrome has the best corrosion resistance.
did a search but didnt find all the info I'm looking for!in the process of ordering some more hooks and was wandering what most here use as far as the color of the hook? black chrome or bronze?
I've never used black chrome.those that have tried both, have you noticed a difference in your catch over the bronze?
thanks in advance!!

Black chrome has better corrosion resistance but I'm finding out they're a bit more brittle. The bronze ones seem to tolerate bending and straightening better.
For jig hooks, I go with bronze. I loose too many to worry about corrosion. Now if your talking about a plastic worm hook for bass (boo-hiss, yeah other species hehehe), then I go with black chrome, as I tend to use the same hook for multiple days before loosing.
Ditto to everything that has been posted above, but I also keep a stash of gold (Aberdeen-type) sickles for fishing around heavy cover where I know I'll be snagging a lot. They're the weakest, but that also means I get a lot more of them back when fishing around heavy wood cover. They become the most efficient in those type lakes. On other bodies of water where I don't expect to snag as much, I go with the bronze. Finally, if I'm on a lake where there's a halfway decent chance of hooking a big "rogue" fish (largemouth, catfish, walleye, etc.), I'll go with the black chrome for strength.

I prefer the red sickle hooks
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I use the gold but have used the other two. Didn't notice any difference in the catch. Just like the gold sickles.
