    I bought this ladder

    Folding Ladder - Universal Mount

Anybody have any ideas on best way to install it on the back transom?

    Thanks

That's a good addition. If it were mine, I would mount a piece of fairly thick aluminum, like 3/16, on the transom first and then mount it. I also have a tendency to over build. I wouldn't want to have a screw pull loose or something and start letting water into the transom.

So did Tim the Toolman on the Home Improvement TV series. LOL.
Thanks for that Idea. I did look in the back of the boat at the transom inside and looks like I have access to puting in regular boats instead of lag. Might use your reinforce idea for that.

Nice setup on the boat, I agree with skeetbum about reinforcing before installing.

CrappieKid - When you get it all mounted a I'd sure like to see a photo and hear what you thoughts are about it. I have the same ladder sitting in the garage and haven't been able to decide where to mount it. On my transom it will hang too low and cause a spray or splash unless I raise the mounting point.

My dad had one of those on his pontoon, and because a 'toon sits so high it was really too short to use properly. So, we got a rope ladder and a couple of d-rings to use in combination and that worked pretty well. It gave a good mount for the rope ladder and something sturdy to pull yourself into the boat with...

This is all about Safety too. If I ever fall in the water winter time, now that I am 58 years old, I will need something to reach right away andd get back in. So the ladder or rope ladder needs to be installed where i can grabe it. I will post pics and rwindis you might like it. I am thinking of using reinforcement that will lift it higher on the boat so the drag issue will be less. By the way I have the 3 step model not the two step.
