Default Fishing from covered boat docks

I recently got permission to fish from a guy I work with who has a boat slip here on Eufaula Lake at the big Marina Boat Dock. He said I could come down anytime to fish. They have dropped several trees at his slip.

What is the best way to fish this type of area? Jigs or minnows?

    Thanks in advance

Either or. Let the fish tell you what they want. I have had better luck fishing docks with jigs myself but I never forget about trying a minnow.

You might try wax worms for some really big bluegill, if the crappie
    aren't biting.

What exactly are wax worms? My favorite for bluegill when in Calif was meal worms. But I can't find them here in Ok. Also unable to find Anchovies for Catfishing.

I usually start with a jig at the dock. If they'll take that, great. If not, I'll go get some minnows.
    I think I got one...
