Default Upper end of shenango lake

My brother and i fished the upper end of the lake today. The area around 846 and above. We caught 26 crappies from 9 to 14"s, 6 perch, and 7 bluegills. Most of the fish were caught on jigs and nibbles, but some were caught on minnows. Most of the perch came on minnows. The gills were caught with mini-foo jigs with maggots. The best color jig for the crappies was yellow/ chartreuse, followed by black/green. Not a bad day for us but when we got back to the ramp it seems that we were the only ones who did good. Other guys said they didn't do any good and that they fished the same area as we did. If any of you guys that didn't do so good read this, try using nibbles on your jigs. They work great on this lake. Hope this info helps improve your fishing. Hate to see anyone go fishless. Smitty

Hey chaunc, good going on the fish yesterday. What turn are you working on? Parivercat and I both work dayturn, and wondered if some evening after work, if we could meet up with you, fish and talk for a bit. You can let us know here, or you can email me. Keith

Keith, working dayturn too. I'll probably stop at the 846 access area one day this week and fish till dark. It'll have to be after tuesday tho. Got to take care of somethings the first couple days this week.

Anybody brave the elements this week? I've been under the weather all week with the flu and didn't get out once. Hows the bite going?

Sat up at the lake and listened to the Pitt football game on the radio. I caught 5 crappies, all on small minnows, 6ft deep. Tried jigs and nibbles, jig and minnows, jig and kodiak paste, but all they would hit was a minnow on a gold hook. Fishin wasn't that good but man did Pitt beat up on S. Florida. BCS bound. Anybody do any good today?
