    Cool Mtl 6/22

Went to MTL and fought the wind today. Found a big cove where the wind wasn't too bad (compared to the main lake) and worked it all day. Caught over 30, kept 11 from 10 to 12 inches on 3" Blk/Chart jigs with a nibble. Caught fish in 20 FOW to 6'. Best fish were in 20 FOW 10 to 15 feet down. Water Temp 75 degrees. Not as muddy as I expected, could see jig go down about 10". Most of the fish kept were females and many were still full of eggs,(not just some eggs but packed) I guess they missed the spawn, don't know?

    Good Luck

    Thanks for the report N2...

What part of the lake where you on?

We were up there the 11th&12th, and caught fish on a similar pattern, including some females with eggs (although I don't recall any being "packed" with eggs. We started way back in North Fork with very little success(pretty muddy), but things picked up dramatically when we trailered to the clearer water at the far SE portion of the lake S of BlackJack. Most of our fish came off of just two rocky points where there was a short transition to much deeper water...nowhere near standing trees.

So... dumb question, but where is blackjack? I usually put in right north of Perry off of Route J. Just a little boat ramp with a gravel parking lot. I can't remember the name of it. It's a a Corps ramp...

Blackjack is right across from the dam, further up Route J at Ray Behrens area.
