Default Is my yak too thick for a transducer to read through??

I'm having problems getting my transducer to read through my yak. The Hummingbird guy on here said my yak might be too thick to read through. Or maybe the plastic has bubbles inside which will cause it not to read through yak also. I have a Pelican Castaway 116. Anyone else with the same yak that has a working FF, please inform me on how you installed yours.

    Thank you!!

Where on the kayak are you mounting it? I'm sure it's not to thick. What are you using to mount it with, silicone or what? I took my transducer and scuffed it up then squirted silicone over the bottom of the transducer, careful not to make bubbles, then squished it into a flat part of the bottom. PM me if you have any more questions.

I don't believe the transducer is a thru-hull on the 150. I believe most are mounting the transducer in a scupper hole or hanging off a bracket.

If it is a thru-hull transducer...as long as your mounting it below the waterline, you should be fine. You can always take a small tuperware dish resting on the bottom of the hull, add water, and drop the transducer into it, in order to test the transducer out. Having the transducer nearly level helps. Also whatever you use to stick it (silicon, lexel etc) needs to be bubble free.

PS, Any transducer will not work shooting from the top deck, through air, and then through the lower hull.

I didn't put any silicone, goop, etc on the bottom of the transducer at all. I traced out the transducer on a piece of pool noodle, cut it out, placed the transducer in it, then cut a piece pool noodle to fit tight on top of the transducer, put it in place, and then put silicone around the bottom of the piece of noodle that the transducer is in so it doesn't move around.
