A real good crappie lake here in Colorado was decimated by drought until 2005 when water levels stabilized and the state then stocked many fingerling crappie. Was wondering if someone might know approx. how long it takes for fingerlings to grow up into slabs? Thanks

Depends on the forage of the lake, and the relative temps that lake is at during the year. When I lived in Missouri conservation agents say that it usually takes 3 years for a crappie to get 9". Know in California its different because the water stays warm here all year and the shad are extremely dense. Joe what lake are you talking about. I grew up in Colorado Springs. You from there originally?

I believe they can reach 9 inches in 3 years.
