Default Reorganize the forum home page.

I've been wanting to reorganize the forum home page. There's just too much stuff piled together in that first tab. Here's what I'm thinking, but I need help. Does anyone out there have organizational skills! I obviously don't!

    FISHING

    Main Crappie Fishing Forum
    Panfish/brim/bream
    Whitebass/striper/hybrid
    Salt water fishing
    Icefishing
    Additional FISHING subcategories
    catfish
    fly fishing
    bass fishing
    walleye fishing
    perch fishing
    carp fishing
    trout fishing
    muskie fishing
    salmon fishing

I don't know what to call this list - maybe "Tools n Stuff"
    Electronics and trolling motors
    Jig Tying/Making
    jig swaps
    tools and vises
    Kayaks Canoes
    Jig Scent
    Soft Plastics
    Lure Making
    Live Bait
    Cover and Structure
Mechanics Corner - Boats and Motors

I don't know what to call this list - maybe just "MISC n OT"
    For Newbies
    Contests and free stuff
    Trade A Trip
    Cooking crappie
    Fishing Tournaments
    Classified ads from sponsor members
    Classified ads from members
    Post pics from your phone
    Fishing stories
    Fishermens Memorial
    Archives
    Off Topic
    way off topic
    hunting

    State Boards
    Then all the state boards....

The indented topics would be there own forums, but would not be listed separately, they would reside as a group under their category topic.

    Ice fishing - whoo hoo!!!!!

I haven't been here long, but one thing I've noticed is that the Jig Tying board gets a ton of posts - don't bury it too deep :-)

Doesn't matter to me. I'll still spend 2 or 3 hrs a day surfing this thing.

Off the top of my head

Standardize the list of states by name only and in alphabetical order.

Some other sites I frequent use the same version of vbulletin and do not have the 100 posts limit on searches. It would be a great help to me if you could take that limit off like they did.

Put all fishing forums in their own category (like the states) and then the rest in maybe a misc category.

I am so glad I ask for help, just because you guys are so great. I love the responses, the Bait Shop, the Back Porch.....suggestion, excellent. Thanks AgriHawg

And I just now raised the search limit from 100 to 1000. I'm thinking I might use Google's search engine, at least provide that as an option. There's a mod to integrate it here with vB. Heck, why not use their resources.

With all the hits/posts the electronics get I would like to see---- Electronics and trolling motors, and Mechanics Corner - Boats, Motors, and Trailers be one class by itself as I feel its buried in the section with jigs live bait & structure. If u have a trailer problem why should you have to look thru live bait & plastics? Just my 2 cents
To follow along with your titles you could call it The Boat Shop-If it floats or not, we will fix it here..........

AriHawg is on the money. The only thing I might change is instead of using "the bait shop" I would look at naming it "the tackle shop". Tackle is a little more representative of the broader subject matter. Then again I am a Marine, we are not known for our smarts....
