We used to pester BG's and crappie in a lake in Wa., Khalotus L. Like the story says, it was usually pretty much non-stop pestering. A #10 black woolybugger or a soft hackle were all that was needed. We almost always waded in the warm night water, thankfully in the absence of gators. If we wanted to target the LM's, we would use the canoe.

I've caught a few gills around 10in. at night. They were shallow on the edge of a weed bed. Also have caught gills at night while ice fishing with a glow jig.
