Smithville 5-7

Got to spend my birthday on the water crappie fishing with my father in law (RHill) Caught em in as little as 2 fow and on timber/laydowns in 4-8 feet. Used black/chart, pink/chart, minnows and jigs tipped w/minnows, mostly under slip bobbers. Biggest was nice black crappie at 12 inches and some good eaters to go with it. Water temp was upper 50's and topped at 59.

Went straight from fishing to a great birthday dinner at my favorite restaurant, Dirks, to celebrate with family. I remember my last bday fishing at Smithville, cold, windy, white caps, short crappie and a wet ride back to the ramp. Yesterday was the complete opposite, what a great day to be on the water and celebrate my birthday!

Gonna try to get out one night this week. Looking forward to camp this coming weekend! Rhill and I took Friday off from work so we'll be up early.
