    Default 40th birthday fishing trip

For my birthday every year I ask for a solo trip - just me

I can't count how many crappie I caught with the small ones, but kept 21 good fish. I threw back some that were likely 10 inches. And one 23 lb flathead caught on a rockty top jig and a 8 ft pro angler rod. What a fight!

Hey flounderNY .... what exactly is UNDER that tire breakwater ?? Or is it the only cover (shade) in that area ?? What's the depth of water under there ??

Reason I ask ... I know of a similar deal, on a local lake, though it's nowhere near as big. Just thought that, if the situations were remotely similar, mine may be worth checking out next time I'm there.

Nice fish !! Crappie Birthday to you !!

Those tires act as a break for boat wakes to protect the marina. Nothing under them other than crappie for about 1 month out of the year. Now, I didn't fish the tires today, I just took those pics at the marina. Today, I fished brush pile from 10 to 17 ft deep. fish were from 8 to 12 feet down. They were spawned out - Lake Lavon near Wylie, TX.

Happy birthday! I turned forty once. 9-1/2 years ago. AARP should start hounding me this year.
I'm glad you had a good day fishing!
