    Default Toledo Bend

Three of us are leaving for Toledo Bend in about six hours. Plan on driving all night. I see the predicted high temps down there for the next week are going to be in the 60's. A lot cooler than it has been. Hope this doesn't hurt the fishing too much. Will post a report upon our return.

    Crappieken,
Two of us went to Toledo Bend a couple of weeeks ago. Maybe a lot
different now ---but --we really whacked the crappie -- in the 2 lb.
range. We stayed on the north end -- Robinson's Lodge--Great people!!
    Good luck to you !!

    Default Toledo Bend

Summary of trip to Toledo Bend:
Day 1 - 1.4 inches of rain - high temp for day 10 degrees below av. wind
15 to 20 mph - no keeper fish

Day 2 - .75 inches of rain - high temp for day 18 degrees below av. wind
    15 to 20 mph - 15 keeper crappie (11 to 13 inches) and 4 keeper
    bass over 15 inches

Day 3 - 2.12 inches of rain - high temp for day 9 degrees below av. wind
    15 to 20 mph - 6 keeper crappie (10 to 12 inches) and 1 keeper
    bass

Day 4 - No rain - high temp for day 11 degrees below av. wind 15 to 25
    mph - no fish
General impression of trip - wet, windy, chilly and few fish. All crappie
caught were males taken in 2 to 3 feet of water. Talked with a lot of
people both locals and those who spend the winter there and they felt the
best time for both quantity and quality crappie was December, January,
and February. Same old tune I always hear - should have been here
yesterday, last week, last month, etc.

    crappieken,
sorry to hear about your trip---though---it was better a couple of weeks
ago. We were told the same thing -- weather more stable and better fishing
Nov. - Dec. I think we will try the first of Dec.

crappieken...I would have still been happy to go in your place..as long as you went to my job for me. I would much rather have a bad day fishing than a good day at work....hope your next trip is a little more comfortable.
