    Thumbs up Prayer Update

Our Grandson's surgery went as good as it could have. The surgery took 3 hrs & they removed his right kidney. The surgeon told us the kidney came out very cleanly and the tumor appeared to be contained in the kidney with no spreading to outer tissue. While he was under, they also inserted a port to be used for chemo later.

The kidney was sent to pathology for testing to determine the stage and type of cancer. They believe it to be a Wilms Tumor which is a rare but malignant type of cancer, however it is a common cancer found in children. We are told there will be approx 500 cases of this type of cancer diagnoised in the U.S. this year.

When we left Tulsa, he was back in his room and somewhat awake. They will keep him medicated as much as they can, but they are limited how much pain killer they can administer due to his size and age.

Now for the recovery & chemo. Not sure on the length of chemo or how much but if the tumor proves to be malignant, he will receive some.

Sue & I want to thank everyone for the prayers as well as Noahs parents - Nathan and Julie. Without your prayers we can't be sure how all this would have ended.

    Again Thank You!!

Gary, it sounds like they got it before it metastasized (sp?). That's what's really important. Glad he came through the surgery so well!

Gary - I'm so glad to hear that it went as well as it could have. We'll keep thinking of you and your family as you all fight through this bad time. Send Noah our best!
