    Default Boat Locks?????

I bought a 2005 Nitro from Bass Pro Shops and the only compartment that has a lock on it is the rod holder. I want to put a lock on every compartment with the same key to all the locks. Has anyone else done this. Any pointers on where to buy the locks or tips on instalation???

    Default Boat Locks

Jeremy, I have an Ranger R70 that has locks on all the storage--Right.
A thief still got in - the locks wasn't that much to force open.
A friend of mine fixed his boat up to locked real good. I followed his lead.

I went to Lowes Building Supply and got the round closet rod holders that screw to the wall, also picked up the heavy closet rod that extends. I then screwed the holders on the inside of my boat so the closed rod would extend from side to side over my rod lockers and center storage- drilled a hole through the rod for an combination (the type that you set the combination) bicycle type lock. It looks like it is professionally installed and looks good on the boat. The parts minus the lock was around $15.00. A thief can still break in - but it will take him some time. I will try to post you a picture this weekend if I can.

Here are a few types. http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cgi...=23&submit.y=5

West Marine also carries them but probably the most expensive souce. Cnorf has a good idea. Unfortunately, the old saying about locks is true. They just keep a honest man honest.

The only thieft proof one out there is a loc-r-bar, a steel bar that lays over all the lids and has a padlock on it. Expensive but cheaper than loosing lots of rods and tackle.

also consider adding a "prop lock" to your outboard motor ... especially if you have a SS prop on your motor. ......... luck2ya ....... cp

It to bad we can't hook up a device that would break there arms. That sure cuts down on the stealing.

I personally can think of something more than just break there arms to stop it.

The Loc-R-Bar is a good solution:
