I would be careful about highway speeds and driving under low hanging limbs. I believe this was for the longer rods that you wanted this for. EB
So previously, I had asked about a case to transport a rod and reel in to keep it from getting banged up while traveling. Couldn't find anything to suit my needs so I came across the idea of installing a rod holder in the truck bed. Seems like surf fishermen do this kind of thing. So anyway, here it is.

DO-GOODER EXTRADINAR :p
Yeah, it was. Clearance needs to be 9ft. I would think that the highway speeds shouldn't matter much but just in case, I have some eye bolts installed between the rods and have some small bungees to attach that should keep them from moving around much.
Looking good, years ago had something like that for surf rods on font bumper when stationed in south Texas. Just don't forget and run through the drive through LoL.

Remember the whip antenna's on cars. That was why they tied them down on the highways. Just sayin is all. EB

Everyone has a secret talent they didn't know about until tequila.
EB, I will take it for a test drive today and find out! But no I don't remember whip antenna? Redy2fish, no there are very few trees at all. It is the desert :D Getting to the lakes which are all reservoirs is usually a pretty clean ride.
I have been using a rod holder in my truck for years, I got tired of my rods and reels getting banged up and broken, I don't bungie them in and at 75mph on the interstate they are fine. I always take my rigs off because any weights or lures bang up against the rods. I just bought a 6 rod holder from BPS and mounted it ti my toolbox, here is a pic.
Good luck I hope it works out for you
