You might consider the Humminbird 597ci HD DI...you can find it online in a few places for under 600 shipped. And you'll love the down imaging.

I have an old obsolete Lowrance so I cannot advise on anything new.......but definitely get a gps unit. It's a whole different world of electronics.

I recently bought a 788ci HD DI and love it. I paid $600 for it at cabelas bargain cave. You might find a nice used unit on bassboatcentral.com

I don't care which one you purchase. For 600 bucks you can get one that will do everything but catch the fish for you. Good luck in all your fishing adventures.

.I have a 596c HD DI . It does not have maps or way points but then I don't need them. As far as having a gps I just use a hand held one. So I guess you have to ask you're self what do you need as to what do you want but hay if you got the money go for broke..

The 570 is the old 565, to what I see. They make a 570 di with down image. Under $300 and it's b/w. I think it's a lot of unit for the dollars. If I was gonna spend $600, I would save up and get into a 798 with SI and DI. Don't even know if that's available, but the SI is real nice. Just my 2 cents. I have a 565 myself and like it fine.
