Hooks for Minnows

What hooks does everyone use when fishing with minnows under a bobber? I have always used the #6 or #8 that come on leaders from walmat, but am thinking I would save alot of time and money by just buying the hooks alone. I want something that will bend easy when snagged so I don't have to break my line. I am reading that the red wire hooks are good, but what makes them better that the gold ones?

What makes the red ones better is that they are different than what they have been use to. I prefer the aberdeen red #4 and #6 myself, depending on the size of the minnows I am using at the time. EB
