    Default 1979 Johnson 70 hp


    i just purchased a 1979 continental 15' center console with a 70 hp johnson that will not shift gears you can unhook shift cable and it tries to go in gear when you shift it by hand. any suggestions to adjust linkage. or anybody local to granite hickory lenoir that might fix it.

    all I have ever done was trial and error, there should be something like a screw you can adjust by hand. Play with that until you get it right.
    When in doubt, set the hook.
