Default Best bobber for minnow fishing ?

I know this sounds lame but, What's the best bobber for minnow fishing for Crappies ? I tried a 3/8" Thill pencil float and with a minnow and one BB split shot it about sank. The 3/4" oval and 1/2" pencil floats seems to work well, is one better than the other ? Also I use spring bobbers when fishing in 3' or less water, do slip bobbers have any advantage in shallow waters ? -thanks

Depends on what kind of fishing u doing. I think for casting distance weighted bobbers are hard to beat. U can adjust the sensitivity of the float by sliding the weight down for those times of soft bites. The ones i use are oval shaped. In shallower water using a slip bobber or regular float wont make much diffrence. Slip floats are at there best in deeper waters.

I like the pear shape floats of if I'm using a slip float I like either weighted or Wing-its.

    Wagglers are best for casting:

These are good for still fishing shallow waters:

Slip floats- weighted or unweighted- win hands down in my book.

I use two kinds of floats. One is large and one is small. I use the small size mostly and it will support a 1/32 oz. jig tipped with a minnow but when wave conditions are rough or using a larger jig, I like to use the larger size float. Both are made by the same Texas company (Comal Tackle Company, Inc.) and both are cheap "styrofoam" type floats so I don't care if I lose one. I can take the plastic pin out, bend the mono line at any spot I choose for depth, stick the bent line into the end of the float, and put the plastic pin in. Real easy .

I always use slip floats that are weighted. They cast great and float great.
