Does Anyone Still Use Cane Poles, Split Shot, and Gold Hook with a Minnow?

I'm new to this board but have been crappie fishing for almost 50 years. My tackle isn't as advanced a most, but I do have several graphite rods I use and have been a fan of slater jigs for many years. I invited a farmer buddy to fish yesterday and he brought 4 cane poles. He caught fish too. So, I was wondering if anyone else still used cane poles while trolling. Thanks

Still see a few guys using them on pontoons. Last fall ran into a gentelman in his 70s trolling crank baits with sawed off cane poles and zebco33's. Still got me a B an M cane bream pole.
