I go when I can. I try to find somewhere out of the wind. I've had plenty of practice this year, been blowing ever since the first of March here! On the lakes I fish, a 20 mph wind can make it dangerous though!

I don't even bother fishing em until it starts to blow. The wind is your friend when your crappie fishing. it sets up the baitfish, makes your jigs move all by themselves, and allows you to cover more water. WHEN IT GETS 20+, IT GETS PRETTY HARD THOUGH.

It was blowing hard enough yesterday I had to run my 55lb thrust trolling motor on three just to stay stationary. Where I was fishing, the channel is maybe 80 yards wide, so no white caps.

Here wind direction can make or break you. If it's east or west above 10 to 15 we stay home most of the time.

Although we have some nice bluffs to get some cover behind when the fish are deep in the channel. it gets harder this time of year when the fish have moved shallow. Even with a drift sock 15 mph gets tough. Took one of the boys from church out with me yesterday afternoon and did real good till we ran out of minnows. Wind was from the south and we fished a long stretch of protected shore line. Fish were at 6-8 fow and most were males. Now I won't get to fish again for three weeks due to work schedule, and a trip to Texas for Passover with my daughter and grandsons. Spawn will be over by the time I get to fish again.

Daniel, its definately blowing pretty hard here in southeastern oklahoma right now. its being blowing for the past week, well i fished the other day off of the bridge and the dang wind blew my favorite hat right into the lake, tried fishing for it but the crappie where biting so good i said heck with it and caught my limit. It was miserable without the bite.

Well, the wind was 15-25 mph with guests up to 40mph yesterday and I still managed to put a few crappie in the kayak, so I guess that might tell you a little about how hard it is to keep me off the water.
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D
