    Default Compression check?

Im thinking about buying a used boat. Its has a 98 Evinrude 175 FICHT, I know that one of the things i should have done is a compression check. But what exactly should I be looking for.
    Thanks for the help

Watch out for that motor. The FICHTs of that era are what drove OMC to bankruptcy. I believe there was an update to make them dependable, but they were prone to blowing powerheads. If it has had the update done, maybe it's okay, but I'd have a dealer look at it.

I would take it to a good mechanic and have them check it out. A couple of hundred isn't much when paying thousands of dollars for a boat.
