Bream Spawning factors
Does anyone know any of the factors that start the spawning of Bream and shellcrackers? With some fish it is temperature.

70 degree water temps after a full moon usually gets em going in Middle Tennessee. Gravel bottom w/ wood cover nearby is generally a good hot spot for the bigguns.

I believe that shellcrackers spawn a little bit earlier than bluegill. I have been told in AR it is in the middle of April.

I have read in Va the water temp needs to be about 73 degrees. But i have also caugth them in July on the flats.

68-72 degrees and 2 days before the full moon and 2 days after. The first full moon in June at night in a brush pile. The best.

I agree the water needs to be in the 70's and for sure during the full moon cycles. I fish for bream 80 percent of the time...you never know when that cork bounces if its a mouth and tail or a 1+ lb bull bream.
