View Full Version : Boat Rebuild

03-01-2006, 11:15 AM
I finally got my boat done and will never rebuild another one. This boat was a total rebuild from the ground up. I fell in love with this boat at first sight and it was so bad as I could not let it go to the Boat Heaven... All my partners thought I was crazy when I told them my plans..... Does anyone have any other suggestions I could add. Thanks for your HELP...

It looks pretty sweet to me. Do you have any pics of the layout?

Nice, good work, the rod holders in the back did you make them?

Thanks the rod holders were made by a friend here at the Sheriff's Dept. as a gift of taking him fishing....

3Girlsdad, I will try to post some pics for you later. When I got the boat it was set up with very large platforms in the front and back. I removed everything and started from scratch. I then placed a new four stroke 50hp as this should last me the rest of my life. I wanted to set the boat up "User Friendly", as I am not getting any younger LOL....

Drill Instructor, Thanks, the boat took me just over 3 months and that was working on it about four nights a week. My wife thought I was nuts as I had her sitting and moving around in the boat while I was drawing the plans. I put alot of time in it thinking of future fishing trips... I have looked at alot of boats and could not find one that I liked. I then found this one and I became attached to it. The paint job was my idea as I want children to look at the boat and wonder what fishing is all about and they say it's cool... Later I will post more pics when the weather gets better.

I rebuilt my boat too. I won't say I will NEVER do it again but I would definitely think long and hard before taking on that task. Mine is fiberglass and has a rotten transom so I had to split the hull to repair it. Put it back together then did LOTS of body work and paint. New carpet, seats, rear deck for the wife's lawn chair (tough to find a boat with the front seat on the floor, and a raised rear deck). My wife is more into laying out than she is into fishing. Nice boat by the way.
